However, note that not all channels support HTML in descriptions - we recommend checking the policies of your respective sales channel for full information.

Saving descriptions to multiple subsources

Linnworks allows saving the same description to multiple SubSources which share a Source. For instance, a description for a SKU on EBAY0 can be copied to the SubSources EBAY1, EBAY2 and EBAY5 by using the Save to multiple option. Edit the description on one of the SubSources you wish to be affected and before saving the description:

  1. Click the downward arrow to the right of the Save button and click Save to Multiple.save to multiple
  2. Click the column header to select all SubSources.
  3. Untick any SubSource to which you do not wish to save this description.
  4. Click Save to Selected.
  5. Click Save.
NB! The Save to Multiple option will only appear if the list of descriptions by channel already contains entries for different SubSources under one Source.

If you wish to edit the description for all integrated channels, then please edit the Default description. If there is no default description, it can be added by ticking the Default checkbox when adding a new description. When using the Save to Multiple features with the default template, it will show all integrated SubSources. Please be aware that these descriptions are most commonly used for listing via My Inventory.

Default values

A price, title or description by channel entry can be marked as Default when they are added. Default values cannot have a specific Source and SubSource specified and are used for any Source and SubSource that do not have a specified value applied. This option allows you to enter a price, title or description for your items that differ from the entries visible in your My Inventory screen i.e. added in the General tab. This can be useful if you prefer to use the General tab values for reference for your staff and need more buyer-friendly values to display on your listings.

NB! Default values from Listing Descriptions tab cannot be deleted in bulk.

Order of priority

When creating a listing template, the system picks up the price/title/description automatically from the Product Details based on the following priority:

  1. Price/title/description by channel for a specific Subsource
    • eBay: eBay also allows specifying a country suffix for a SubSource (e.g. EBAY0_UK for SubSource EBAY0 and ebay.co.uk marketplace). If there is a country suffix added for a SubSource, that entry will take priority for the respective SubSource and marketplace.
If there is no value with a matching country-suffix for a marketplace, the entry with the respective SubSource is used.
      • Example: There are two channel-specific prices added for EBAY0 - EBAY0_UK = 5 and EBAY0 = 3.
When creating a listing for EBAY0 on the ebay.co.uk marketplace, the price applied will be 5.
When creating a listing for EBAY0 on the ebay.de marketplace, the price applied will be 3.
    • Other channels: each entry with a specified SubSource (e.g. AMAZON UK) will be applied for the respective SubSource listing.
  2. Default price/title/description by channel
    • Default values are used when there is no specified value for the respective Source and Subsource.
  3. Price/title/description from the General tab in Product Details
    • When an item does not have a channel-specific value or a Default value added in the Listing Descriptions tab, the values from the General tab are applied.
