Product Details: Postage Definition
You can find the dimensions and weights of the stock item in the Product Details > Postage Definition tab. These are required by integrated shipping couriers and can be used for selecting the right packaging method.
The Postage Definition tab is split into the following sections: postage definition, weight, and dimension. See below for more details on each section.
Use the Postage definition section to assign a Default Postal Service and a Packaging Group to an inventory item.
- Default Postal Service: this is a drop-down list with available Linnworks Postal Services.
NB! The Default Postal Service entry alone does not assign a Postal Service to your orders. The value can be used e.g. in our Rules Engine as a condition. See this article for more information.
- Packaging Group: this sets the default packaging for the SKU.
Weight (by default in 'Grams')
This is the weight of an item. Weights can be entered in the appropriate text box for your preferred measurement system. Linnworks will then convert this to display the correct weight in all available measurement systems. The system default is configurable by changing the value in Settings > General Settings > General.
Dimension (by default in 'Centimetres')
These fields store the height, width, and depth of a single item. Note that the volume is a calculated value and cannot be altered. The system default is configurable by changing the value in Settings > General Settings > General.
Editing postage definition details in bulk
Product weights and dimensions can be uploaded in bulk via a CSV file as an Inventory Import. When uploading in bulk, the system will use the default units of measurement set in Settings > General Settings > General.
