Data Export - File Location

As the Data Export functionality runs directly on our servers it is not possible to directly access files and locations that are saved on a Pc in your network. Therefore the system supports the methods detailed in this guide for selecting where to save the file that is generated.

export new

File Location is one of the steps in either setting up a new Data Export or modifying the configuration of an existing Data Export. Below are links to the methods available to choose where Linnworks is able to save a copy of the file that is generated.

File Name Options

When exporting data from Linnworks, it may be desirable to create dynamic file names, particularly if the export is run on a schedule. Using dynamic file names will ensure that data is not overwritten if export jobs are run multiple times. This is achieved by specifying a file name appended with a tag, which instructs Linnworks how to create the file as the export is run. The options used to create dynamic file names are based on lengths of time, with the exception of the increment. The following table describes what tags can be used and their effect:

Tag Description Example Result
DATETIME The date and time in UTC that the export was created and saved NewOrders_[{DATETIME}].csv NewOrders_20160701094304.csv
NOW The date and time in UTC that the export was created and saved NewOrders_[{NOW}].csv NewOrders_2016-07-01_09_43_04.csv
TODAY The date that the export was created and saved NewOrders_[{TODAY}].csv NewOrders_2016-07-01.csv
WEEK The Year and week number that the export was created and saved NewOrders_[{WEEK}].csv NewOrders_201626.csv
MONTH The Year and month that the export was created and saved NewOrders_[{MONTH}].csv NewOrders_201607.csv
INCREMENT An auto incremented file number will be used on the number of files that have been exported NewOrders_INCREMENT.csv NewOrders_1.csv

Once the desired file name format has been chosen, it can be entered into the File Location tab in the Export Data Configuration screen .
