Editing Services

Linnworks.net aims to make handling courier shipping services as simple as possible, regardless of what courier you are using. The most common steps for managing shipping services are available in our Generic Guide to Editing Services.

DHL Shipping Services

DHL Express offers Time Definitive services for Domestic and International shipments. These services are the following:

  • DOK - DHL Domestic Express 09:00: National Express shipping of goods and documents. Domestic door-to-door delivery before 9:00 a.m. on the next possible business day (only available to specific areas)
  • DOM - DHL Domestic Express: National Express shipping of goods and documents. Domestic delivery by the end of the next possible working day
  • DOT - DHL Domestic Express 12:00: National Express shipping of goods and documents. Domestic door-to-door delivery before 12:00 noon on the next possible business day (only available to specific areas)
  • TDE - DHL Express 09:00 (nondoc): International express shipping of dutiable shipments with delivery before 9 a.m. in USA, Canada and Mexico (only available to specific areas)
  • TDK - DHL Express 09:00 (doc): International express shipping of non-dutiable shipments with delivery before 9 a.m. in the USA, Canada and Mexico (only available to specific areas)
  • TDL - DHL Express 10:30 (doc): International express shipping of non-dutiable shipments with delivery before 10:30 a.m. in the USA, Canada and Mexico (only available to specific areas)
  • TDM - DHL Express 10:30 (nondoc): International express shipping of dutiable shipments with delivery before 10:30 a.m. in USA, Canada and Mexico (only available to specific areas)
  • TDT - DHL Express 12:00 (doc): International express shipping of non-dutiable shipments and documents with delivery before 12 noon (only available to specific areas)
  • TDY - DHL Express 12:00 (nondoc): International express shipping of dutiable shipments and documents with delivery before 12 noon (only available to specific areas)
  • WPX - DHL Express Worldwide (nondoc): International express shipping of dutiable shipments outside the EU with delivery before 18:00 on the next possible business day
  • DOX - DHL Express Worldwide (doc): International express shipping of non-dutiable shipments outside the EU with delivery before 18:00 on the next possible business day
  • ECX - DHL Express Worldwide (EU): International express shipping within the EU with delivery before 18:00 on the next possible business day

DHL Express also offers Economy Select services when shipping internationally. Weight and size restrictions apply as specified in this documentation.

  • ESI - DHL Economy Select (nondoc): Used when shipping dutiable shipments between EU and non-EU countries. Delivered during normal business hours.
  • ESU - DHL Economy Select (EU): Used when shipping non-dutiable shipments from one EU country to another. To be delivered during normal business hours.
NB! Post-Brexit, all UK shippers need to start using dutiable services to ship into and outside of Europe.
  • Post-Brexit UK Shippers are expected to use these services: WPX, ESI, DOC, TDE, TDY.
  • Services ESU, ECX, TDK, TDT cannot be used to ship from the UK to EU or non-EU countries.
Other European DHL accounts can carry on using services marked as non-dutiable or EU when sending to other EU countries.

DHL Shipping Service Options

Some courier services allow you to configure options that are specific to that courier. DHL Express offers a wide range of Optional Services - from non-standard deliveries to billing options. Please note that not all Optional Services are available with every shipment or in every country.

To configure shipping service options for DHL services, follow the guide below.

Editing shipping service options

  1. Go to Shipping > Integrations
  2. Click on the Services button in line with your DHL integration
  3. Find the service that you want to edit, and click the Edit button

Available Options

Please note that not all options are available for every service.

Remote Area Delivery

  • Fail if Remote Area: when ticked, an error is returned during shipping label printing, if there would be a Remote Area Delivery surcharge for the order.

Special Services

  • Shipment Insurancewhen ticked, Shipment Insurance is requested for the service for an extra charge.
  • Saturday Delivery: when ticked, Saturday Delivery service is requested for an extra charge.
  • Paperless Trade: when ticked, Commercial and Proforma Invoices are electronically submitted to DHL. Further information here.
  • Data Staging (Return Labels): when ticked, return labels are printed together with shipping labels.

Export Details

  • Terms of Trade: select the terms of trade for the shipments from the dropdown. Required for dutiable shipments.
  • Duties & Taxes Paid - tick this if DHL is paying for Duties and Taxes. This is a chargeable service option.
  • Customs Value Includes Tax: when enabled, Linnworks will use the tax-inclusive order Total Value and the Unit Value of each item for any customs information printed and submitted to the courier. More details here.
    NB! This setting is enabled by default. Disable it to instruct Linnworks to use the order Total Value and the Unit Value with tax excluded.
  • Export Reason Code: select the export reason:
    • Commercial Purpose Or Sale
    • Diplomatic Goods
    • Personal Belongings Or Use
    • Defence Material
    • Gift
    • Intercompany Use
    • Used Exhibition Goods To Origin
    • Permanent
    • Return For Repair
    • Sample
    • Temporary
    • Return To Origin
    • Warranty Replacement
  • Override Paperless: tick to produce a copy of the PLT (Paperless Trade) Commercial Invoice.
  • Signature Name
  • Signature Title
  • Signature Image URL
  • Remarks
